About Us

Hi! We’re Mike and Alison Ferguson, parents of three awesome (and very energetic) kids: Duke, Hank, and Eden. We’re also the husband-and-wife duo behind The Treehouse Play Cafe. As parents, we know the joy of watching kids explore and the desperate need for a place to sit down and drink a coffee while it’s still hot.
 

The original Treehouse in Lake Zurich was a beloved community favorite for almost 15 years before it closed during the pandemic. When we had the chance to bring it back, we jumped in, because what could go wrong with opening a business while raising three young kids? (Spoiler: A lot. But also...totally worth it.)
 

We wanted to create more than just a play place. We dreamed of a cozy, clean, and welcoming space where kids can safely climb, slide, and imagine, while adults can relax, chat, snack, and maybe even answer an email in peace. Since reopening in Lake Zurich and expanding to our second location in McHenry, we’ve worked hard to build a space that feels just as good for grown-ups as it does for little ones.
 

Whether you’re here for open play, a birthday party, or just need a break from the chaos of home, we’re so glad you found us. Come play, stay, and make some memories, you bring the kids, we’ll bring the coffee (and yummy snacks).
